The landscape around this house was very uneven, it was situated on the side of a mountain. The couple that lived here wanted to build a back deck that extended off the edge of the cliff in their backyard, and over the driveway in their front yard. They also needed a solution for the retaining wall behind the house where the hill continued to rise.
Over looking the Coulee Valley was the perfect view for this extended deck.
We added an outdoor kitchen with a brick pizza oven, a small sink and storage for utensils.
The slopped made the patio tricky, small retaining walls made into seats did the trick along with the walkway behind the kitchen.
This house needed the floor plan to be reworked so that it made more sense and gained square footage for a bigger kitchen. This couple didn't need their extra bedroom, the problem was that it wasn't adjacent to the kitchen so it wasn't just a matter of tearing down a wall. We had to relocate the bathroom and laundry room in order to create a floor plan that flowed properly.
We ended up with all the kitchen space we needed and room for a dining room too. The decision to install floor to ceiling corner windows were made to allow for herb growing. They let in a lot of natural light and look out to a terrific view.
With a mix of walnut and marble counter tops and beautiful wall tile it's the perfect place to cook anything. Leaving one wall open to shelving shows off the tile.
